Electric Entertainment Promotes Ben Kim to Head of Development and Acquisitions

Electric Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production and distribution company, has announced the promotion of Ben Kim to head of development and acquisitions.

He was previously VP of development and acquisitions.

In his new role, Kim will continue to lead the development of all scripted TV and feature films, while overseeing the company’s global acquisitions and co-productions. He will expand upon his experience by also overseeing all scripted development for Electric Entertainment’s streaming app and FAST channel ElectricNOW, which most recently announced it will commission original content. Their first two projects were announced at this year’s MIPCOM — “The Poly Couple” and “Sloane and the Cosmic Schlep.”

“Since Ben joined Electric Entertainment, he has had an extraordinary impact on the company. His exceptional talent and keen eye have been instrumental in acquiring and producing some of our finest films and TV series,” Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment, said in a statement. “Thanks to Ben’s unwavering dedication and expertise, we’ve also expanded into commissioning original content for our streaming app and FAST channel, ElectricNOW. We are confident that Ben will excel in this new role and continue driving the company toward even greater success.”

Kim has been with Electric Entertainment for the past decade. He joined the company as the VP of development and has been instrumental to Electric’s continued growth. He helped develop the feature film Bad Samaritan starring David Tennant (2017) and has cultivated the writer’s room staff for several Electric Entertainment productions, including Amazon Prime Video’s original series “Leverage: Redemption,” SYFY’s “The Ark,” and the upcoming spin-off series “The Librarians: The Next Chapter” for TNT.
