TVLine can officially confirm that the long-awaited sequel series’ two-night premiere will kick off Sunday, May 25 on TNT (following NBA Playoffs coverage), followed by a second episode on Monday, May 26 (following NHL Playoffs coverage). Subsequent episodes will continue to air on Monday nights.

Throughout the season, the team will embark on fantastical adventures, including a surprise reroute to a manor where Agatha Christie-styled murders take place, a time-travel back to the days of King Arthur at Camelot, and even an encounter with the first-ever vampire.

The ensemble cast also includes Jessica Green (The Outpost) as Charlie Cornwall aka the Guardian, Olivia Morris (Hotel Portofino) as Lysa Pascal and Bluey Robinson (Britannia) as as Connor Green.

Caroline Loncq (Mammals) guest-stars as as Mrs. Astolat, while Christian Kane (Leverage: Redemption) will reprise his original Librarians role as Jacob Stone in a guest-starring capacity. Stone is tasked by The Library to mentor and help Charlie find her confidence, so she can fulfill her dream of becoming a permanent Guardian.

“The original Librarians was a top-rated series on TNT for four seasons and we are thrilled to bring The Next Chapter home to our network, with all of the spellbinding adventures, legendary magic and mystique that fans love,” says Turner Networks president Jason Sarlanis. “This new entry in the beloved franchise reinforces our commitment to high quality scripted content that features the drama, adventure, and thrills our viewers expect from a TNT original.”

A spinoff of the mid-2010s TV series The Librarians — which itself was an offshoot of series of made-for-TV movies led by Noah Wyle (ER, The Pitt) — The Next Chapter centers on Vikram Chamberlin (Jamestown‘s Callum McGowan), a “Librarian” from from the year 1847 who time-traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He in turn is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new collection of Librarians.

Franchise shepherd Dean Devlin serves as showrunner on The Next Chapter and executive-produces alongside Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson. Franchise vet Wyle serves as a producer, as do Mark Franco and Jonathan English.

“The universe of The Librarians has expanded and we are so excited to present this exciting season of The Next Chapter,” says Devlin. “We’re confident the fans will fall in love with these new characters and that a whole new audience will be seduced into this wonderful and magical world.”

This sequel series’ journey to screen was quite the page-turner. One week after The CW confirmed that The Librarians: The Next Chapter had been unceremoniously pulled from its Fall 2024 schedule, the series was snatched up by TNT — the original series’ home — as part of the cabler’s mission to reinvest in “high-adrenaline” dramas after spending a few years pivoting away from original scripted content.

Beyond the already-filmed, 12-episode Season 1, TNT already has given The Next Chapter a Season 2 order.
